Review and Giveaway: The Identical
The other night the kids and I enjoyed a fun family movie night with a good, clean family movie, The Identical.
First a bit of trivia: Elvis was a twin. His brother, Jesse Garon Presley, was stillborn.
The Identical begins with a bit of a "what if" scenerio ... suppose Elvis' brother Jesse hadn't been stillborn but the family, very poor, couldn't afford at that time to raise two children.Would Jesse be a musician too? How would Elvis' life be different in a different family?
In The Identical twins Ryan and Drexel, born into a poor, but loving, family are unknowingly separated at birth. Drexel stays with his birthparents while Ryan is raised by a charismatic, intense minister and his wife who are unable to have children of their own. Drexel grows up to be a big rock star while Ryan spends much of his life conflicted by his love for rock and roll and his duty to his family and church, leaving him uncertain of what direction to go with his life. As Ryan becomes an adult he can't ignore the calling of the music and sets out on a rock and roll career, as a cover artist for Drexel. Eventually Ryan discovers the truth about his birth and he and his family face the unavoidable emotions that come with learning such monumental news.
This movie, which was released in theaters September 5, 2014, has some big names to it's credit - Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Seth Green, and Blake Rayne.
Adam, Kaden, and River liked the movie. It's the story of a young man who likes cars and music ... they were pretty well hooked from the beginning. It is a good, clean family movie. There's smoking in the movie and a little bit of alcohol but nothing that I wasn't comfortable with them seeing.
The Identical will be available on DVD and Blue-Ray on January 13, 2015 but I have a copy for you to win right now! Included with the 107 minute long movie are over 85 minutes of bonus content including "Making the Identical", Behind the Scenes, and Deleted Scenes.

We do what we can to make it a real movie experience.....with at-home benefits! My husband makes homemade popcorn and we turn off all the lights. Then we snuggle on the couch together with a huge throw. Fun!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great family movie. Our family movie nights are made special with popcorn and the small glass bottle of Coke.
ReplyDeleteWe make a huge pot of popcorn (none of that microwave stuff) nd then snuggle on the couch together while we all munch away.
ReplyDeleteWe are also scratch/homemade popcorn lovers. Friday night is usually family movie night and we enjoy homemade pizza and dessert. Sometimes, we all snuggle in the bed (yes with popcorn too) and watch the movie together.
ReplyDeleteWe make it special by popping some popcorn, getting in out pajamas and turning off the lights (:
ReplyDeleteWe usually go all out...popcorn, drinks, pillows, blankets for all! So much fun and I love the memories being made!
