I offered last week to be a tester for a new Whimsy Couture dress pattern.

Could it be any prettier? Very simple pattern, quite easy to sew as long as your sewing machine and shirring are amicable (we had some initial growling this go around, but they became friends).

The fabrics are from the from the $4.99 yard rack of quilter's cottons at Joann's. After coupons and teacher's discount I spent less than $7 to make this entire dress.

The dress is short on Mia, but Mia is tall, probably taller than me, so I expected it to be short. If I make it again for her, which I believe I will, I'll add a good 6" to the body length. I don't think I'd make the sleeves longer, as it is the dress works for both winter and summer (in Florida, at least). I'd originally thought I'd cut the ruffle off and make this a blouse, but after putting it on Mia she and I agreed that it's perfect when belted and worn over jeans or leggings.

Joann's Teachers Discount ... for a home school parent to get one must have proof of homeschooling. We don't belong to any home school groups and I didn't have the letter from my county handy so my friend suggested going online and printing my own I.D.. I googled "homeschool id" and made my own. Worked like a charm.
