Little Girl Quilt inspired by my college girl

When Cassie asked me to make her a quilt she wasn't very specific about what she wanted, though she did pick a pile of fabrics she wanted used. I'd come across this post and suggested doing something similar, but with sashing between the colors. She was game so I went to work. After a few hours and a few blocks I showed them to her. And she was far less than enthused.

The quilt hadn't come together all that quickly so I decided to instead make it into a baby quilt and start over for her quilt (coming in a later post ... sometime after I sandwich it, quilt it, and bind it). I added a few more blocks, the white sashing, and the border and put it all together. And Cassie liked it.

Teenagers are fickle.

I love the fabric mix in this. Cassie made some very interesting choices, ones that had me a bit skeptical, but oh how it works. This quilt feels so homey and comforting, just what she was going for.

The quilt is available in my shop.

  1. heee :D Yeah, they can be fickle, but to be fair, I've worked on quilts where I've done the blocks and just been so totally out of love with how it was coming out - put it away for a time - then pulled it out and been astonished at how it morphed back into something I loved after sashing and border were added. :)

  2. thank you for stopping by! I am in love with the quilt. It reminds me of the ones made with flour sacks in my family. I've wanted to make a quilt forever, but I can't seem to find the time... how you do it with six I will never know :)
