Another soccer field post.

Is this post about Kaden's grace on the soccer field?

Or River's obviously extraordinary ball handling skills?


 No, it's not about any of that. It's about my oldest daughter, wisely not named Grace, who broke her foot walking down the stairs.


She was walking down the stairs, mis-stepped, and cried out.  By the time I got to the bottom of the stairs she was in tears and her foot was swelling. Evening plans immediately changed (Cassie is well known for her injuries and when she cries I know it's serious) and she and I headed to the ER (an experience in itself).

I have to give her a lot of credit for handling the situation as well as she has.  She doesn't complain about it at all, really hasn't since the first night, and doesn't let it stop her from doing what she wants to.

The cast will be off in a week or two (four weeks total).

Then she's going to learn how to drive.*


*I did hire someone to teach her before the broken foot happened.  He took her out once, she hit a curb, got a flat and ruined the rim. After 2 hours of waiting for a tow truck they returned home.  I think her instructor was relieved to hear she broke her foot and couldn't take driving lessons for a while.
