Sailing Away ...
I asked my girls to take pictures of a quilt top for me and this is what I got instead!
Modeled by the 15 year old, photographed by the 9 year old.
Note the long pants and long sleeves ... our first day cool enough for that kind of clothing and the kids are loving it. We don't get a lot of cool days so when we do we break out the jeans and long sleeves and make the most of it. Usually it's warm enough by noon for shorts but today has stayed on the chilly side ... yum, yum, yum.
Ah yes, they did give me a picture of the quilt top. I've been looking for boyish quilt ideas and the one above popped into my head after reading this tutorial. I didn't use a 1/4" seam allowance, much closer to less than 1/8" .... I can't to see how this comes out after it's washed!
I've also been sewing Halloween costumes for a pirate, a cowboy, and a roller-skating waitress. More on those laster this week after I can get them all dressed and photographed.
I'm finding that sewing isn't easy right now. The bending and angling pushes the babe into my ribs, which ends up aching for the rest of the day. The new plan is to sew only later in the day so that I can sleep off the aches and pains and not be bothered by them when the kids are awake. We'll see if that works!
