Yumpy
Yumpy. Taters. Potato Head. Kadey Potatey. Yumpkin.
He answers to all of them (one of the downsides to being the baby of the family), and more ... and sometimes even his given name. And today he answered to Birthday Boy too. My baby, my youngest, turned 5 today. 5!
Have I told you all about how this child cried nonstop the first 8 months of his life and how I thought was sure I'd lose my mind? Or about his very stubborn strong-willed streak that led him to refuse to write his name for ages (because when he was a Daddy his children would do it for him, so he didn't have to)?
Or what a sweet love he is, snuggling up with me in the mornings and telling me he loves me at random moments?
Have I told you how much I love this boy? More than words, that I can tell you.
Happy Birthday Yumpy!

Sigh... (big smile)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday K!
Uh. The whole time I thought it was Lumpy...
Hm.
Happy (late) birthday to that sweet boy! He's absolutely gorgeous...but crying for 8 months? Are you sure you *didn't* lose your mind? ;o)
ReplyDeleteFive is a great age! Enjoy every minute!
Oh Jenni, if you only knew! I was ready to give up more than once! I thought I had it going on by the time he came along ... I KNEW I could handle a baby blindfolded with one arm tied behind my back. Ha! He threw me for a loop, totally, I had no idea how to please him ... but at around 8 months old he calmed down. He's still prone to huge fits but certainly much happier than he was then.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the birthday wishes.
Thanks Nikol!
ReplyDeleteYumpy comes from the Cuppycake song:
You're my Honeybunch, Sugarplum
Pumpy-umpy-umpkin, You're my Sweetie Pie
You're my Cuppycake, Gumdrop
Snoogums-Boogums, You're the Apple of my Eye
there's an adorable version of it sung here (I think it's still got the sound, I have no sound on this computer so I'm not positive!)
