A Note About the Bubbles

While browsing my newly tidied Google Reader this morning I came across this delightful post by Leanne at Everyday Celebrations for the Just Growing Quilt on the Moda Bake Shop blog.

Midway down the page she talks about how she adheres circles and she mentions that she cuts out the center of the heat and bond. To quote:

"I like to use Heat n' Bond Lite for appliqueing on quilts. To use this method, trace the templates on to the paper-side of the Heat n' Bond. Then just roughly cut out around each shape. Adhere to the appropriate fat quarter following the directions on the package. Then cut out around each shape using the tracing lines.

Appliqueing 101 Tip: When I applique on quilts, I like to cut out the middle of any LARGER shapes to help keep the quilt soft and cuddly. (Yes, I have forgotten many times, but for the most part I remember."

Very simple idea that would have saved some of my troubles with this quilt!

I cannot recommend the Moda Bake Shop blog highly enough.  Filled to overflowing with free tutorials and patterns (they call them recipes, cooh huh?) it's a great site to garner new ideas and techniques.
