Naples Quilters Guild Show

I thought I was so witty posting part of "Come Sail Away" in my last post. Ha. Guess what song has been in my head for days upon end. But really, the alternative around here is "How do you solve a problem like Maria" with the line "How do you take a dresser to a ball?" followed by hysterical giggles added in and sung over and over and over and over and over and over by 4 and 6 year olds.

This weekend the littler boys and I attended the Naples Quilters Guild "Stitches in Time" quilt show. Nice. The quilts were very impressive and it wasn't a huge show, so not so overwhelming. I wish I had had a camera with me to capture some of the inspiring quilts. Many of them were just breathtaking.

The boys were the youngest attendees while we were there. I, who isn't so young, fell well below the median age as well. When we arrived at the show I gave each of the boys three coins, A. added it up and it came to $.25, and they were told a coin would be taken away if they misbehaved, but if they behaved and obeyed the coins were theirs to keep. I'm pleased to say that each boy walked out of the show with three coins, and many compliments on their good behavior. They did have a hard time not touching the quilts (so did I) and there were a few times when climbing under the quilts was almost too irresistable, but they were terrific.

Jason is using the camera this week and I'm missing it. I had no idea how often I used it until it was gone.

Oh, here's a link to a simple and beautiful craft by How About Orange that the kids and I did over the weekend (they made entire page button pictures instead of cards). While you're visiting her site do take a look at her new fabric line, and then take a look at the rest of the decadent fabrics at j caroline creative. I was impressed by both the selection and the prices.

Wow, a whole post without a picture. I feel so naked.

  1. That's a great idea for getting your littles to behave. I'm glad they got to keep their $25!

  2. Thanks Jenni. But just 25 cents, not dollars ... if I'd have had the dollars I'd have spent it!
