CVS Today

I have wrestled the last few weeks with this blog. It began as a crafting/sewing blog, with a bit of time devoted to my family. Over the last almost-two-years my world has changed drastically and I'm not afforded the time or money to do the sewing and quilting I'd like to do. So I'm left with little to talk about if I opt to keep this blog a crafting blog.

And that just doesn't work for me. While I'm not doing what I used to do with the frequency I used to do it, I am still doing things. Life goes on, just differently.

So, because this is my blog and I can do whatever the heck I want with it I am declaring it, as of today, a sewing/crafting/quilting/budgeting/working to get out of debt/home schooling/child rearing/child care/kids activities, arts, and crafts/large family/teenager rearing/baby raising/preteen surviving/sailing/penny pinching/money saving/couponing/cleaning, cooking, and welding/whatever suits my fancy blog. So yeah, it's my life that will be reflected here, as it always was, just more random, disjointed, silly, sad, serious, goofy, chaotic ... because that's how life in this nuthouse goes.

So, without further ado ...

I received an email from CVS this morning asking me to complete a short survey about the economy and it's effect on my spending habits, with the carrot at the end being $5 ECB (extra care bucks).

After completing the survey and printing my ECB's I put together a little grocery list, hitting Money Saving Mom for some ideas.

The purpose of my trip was to buy milk. I rarely find deals on milk so making one is kind of a little challenge. CVS has an offer running right now - buy 5 gallons milk, get one free (ends near the end of July) so using the ECB I earned toward milk would put me closer to a free gallon of milk, without having to pay full price for milk.

When I entered the store I scanned my CVS card for $2 ECB

I purchased:
2 gallons milk
2 skinny cow ice cream containers ($1 each, used 2 $1 coupons)
2 John Frieda hair products (2 for $10, earn $3 ECB, used 2 $3 coupons)
1 20 oz. diet coke (redeemed a mycokerewards coupon for free product)

Spent about $3.49 after tax and earned $3 ECB ... having had no ECB's before this morning (spent them over the weekend on clearance diapers) I'm pretty happy with the way that turned out.

I had hoped to get this Windex deal as well but the store was sold out, I may head to a different CVS to do that because I want to submit for a $5 rebate as well, making that deal a good moneymaker.

***I'm eating the Skinny Cow Cookies 'n Cream low fat ice cream right now ... it doesn't compare to Ben and Jerry's but it's only 150 calories and 2 WW points for 5.8 oz. and tastes pretty good. Not bad at all.

  5. It seems living in the sticks we are missing out on the CVS store. We have Walgreens but that is 45 minutes away from me so really has to be a big deal to make it worth while. I like that you decided to make your blog into what you need/want it to be. Good girl, that is what this is all about. Sharing, learning and what not. I am proud of you.
Thank you for stopping by. Take care and God Bless!!!
